Yaletown was named after the town of Yale. CP Rail agreed to move its rail operations from Yale to Vancouver in the 1880's in exchange for some pretty sweet tax exemptions.
The area has seen many changes over the years but you can still find remnants of its past history. Raised cobblestone walkways were once warehouse loading docks for the trains and trucks serving BC destinations. You can still see Engine No 374 and the turntable at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Centre.
Today's Yaletown offers some of the best fresh air shopping and dining options in the city. With over 750 businesses operating in the area you're sure to find something for you.
Yaletown hosts multiple festivals and events and has an impressive list of dining options.
When we're lucky, tours correspond to event festival schedules and we get to sample seasonal specialties.
Merriam Webster suggests that:
Happy Hour refers to the period of time in the early evening during which drinks and appetizers are available at reduced prices at bars or restaurants.
That fact alone makes people happy, but the happy in happy hour is usually more about being done with work for the day and unwinding with friends over a few beverages and snacks — all at a reasonable price.
We visit four restaurants on the trip, each offering something a little different.
The best thing about Yaletown is the incredible amount of choice there is for dining options.
The tour includes a sampling of appetizers, dim sum, tacos and even an awesomely priced burger or grilled cheese if you like. Happy hour beer and wine are included at the stops as well.
We'll make sure we point out the other locations offering great deals in the area so you can return for even more delicious savings.
